Georgie Yam launched Dragonfly Therapeutic Retreat in February 2003. This was followed in May 2004 by the Dragonfly Nailspa. With his sharp vision and strong leadership he has since expanded the company from an initial staff of 8 to now over 700 professional staff members. From one tiny shop in Shanghai the business has grown into a chain with 15 shops in China and one overseas in Dubai, UAE, all in pursuit of Georgie’s vision to “Relax the World!”
With his creative skill, fashion sense and business acumen, Georgie became one of Asia’s most sought-after hair stylists during the 80’s and 90’s. He then embarked on a new direction in the spa business, successfully opening and operating 2 high-class hotel spas in the Singapore Grand Hyatt and the Marriott. Later on while visiting China, Georgie saw an opportunity in Shanghai to start a high quality, upscale but affordable relaxation business positioned between the expensive hotel spas and the mediocre street level shops.
Georgie was born in Hong Kong, which he left when 19 years old to pursue hair design in the world-renowned Vidal Sassoon School in London, England. After graduation Georgie worked for the Vidal Sassoon Salon for 2 years before returning to Asia to start his own business in Singapore.
